Franciska katoļu baznīcas celtniecība tika sākta 1889. gada 24. septembrī. Celtniecība noritēja diezgan ātri un jau 1890. gadā baznīcai tika uzlikts jumts. 1891. gadā pabeidza abus torņus, uzbūvēja fasādi un velves. 1892. gadā baznīcu iesvētīja par godu Svētajam Franciskam.
Svētā Franciska baznīca ir celta neogotikas stilā ar franču romānikas plānojumu. Baznīcā ir trīs jomi, katrā jomā trīs arkas. Centrālais joms ir par arku garāks, jo liekajā arkā atrodas prezbitērijs. Prezbitērijam abās pusēs ir sakristejas, virs kurām ir ložas. Baznīca ir būvēta no sarkaniem ķieģeļiem. Torņi ir celti tikai no ķieģeļiem un tajos nav izmantoti akmens bluķi vai betona lējumi.
Vienā no sānu altāriem ir Sv. Jāņa Kristītāja glezna, kura ir gleznota 1795. gadā. Tās autors ir Jakobs Metenleiters, kurš dzimis Vācijā un miris Pēterburgā. Vienā no sānu altāriem ir Sv.
